    When considering a screenplay, one tends to focus on the usual (albeit key) elements: structure, dialogue, characters etc. However, it is just as important to take formatting -- that's right, formatting -- into proper account as well.



    A script, despite it's content, is only as good as it looks upon first glance. Proper script formatting is essential to a screenplay's worth, as it helps to peak and sustain the interest of its readers. These readers can include TV and Film professionals who want to produce and/or promote your script and they won't look past the first page of a poorly formatted screenplay...



    Formatting is essential. Got it? Good.



    With this, the TSMG is happy to host THE FORMAT, a script formatting session on Sunday, August 27th, 2011 at the NFB .



    The session will feature special guest, DAVID TROTTIER. David is a professional Screenwriter, Screenwriting Teacher and Script Consultant. He is perhaps best known for being the author of the best-selling screenwriting book, The Screenwriter’s Bible. David’s screenwriting resume includes work for Disney, Jim Henson Pictures, ABC Television and he has helped a plethora of emerging screenwriting talent break into the industry (and win awards to boot). David Trottier will shed some valuable and professional light on the topic of script formatting while helping to foster discussion about what makes good (looking) scripts.
